Frequently Asked Questions

Have a question?

Below are the questions we get asked most often with the answers. If you have a question that's not on the list email us at daughtersanddads.cricket.com.au and we'll reply as soon as possible.

Can I register both my daughters for the program?

From experience we highly recommend 1:1 ratio of one daughter to one dad/father figure. This ensures everyone gets the maximum benefit from the program. You can give your daughter 100% of your attention during the program and there's no risk of any sibling rivalry.

If you have two daughters there are a couple of options you can consider:

  • The program will run again in the future. Participate with your eldest daughter first, then register your youngest daughter at the appropriate time. Experiencing the program with your daughters will be different on both occasions

  • Is there an uncle, grandpa, or other father figure who can participate? Each daughter can take turns in spending time with dad, maybe one week with dad and one with grandpa

There are of course exceptions so if you have twins please drop us an email so we can help you.

Can my daughter participate if she doesn't have a dad in her life?

Absolutely, we welcome her attendance with a significant male figure in her life. This might be a step-father, grandfather, uncle, older brother or trusted family friend.

The program is designed to educate and motivate male role models as the agent for changing a girls’ physical activity levels, sport skills and social-emotional wellbeing. Unfortunately, we are unable to accept daughters attending the program with their mothers.

What about mums?

From the research that underpins the program we know that fathers and father figures have a unique and independent influence on girls in a myriad of ways including their daughter's social emotional well-being, resilience, critical thinking, persistence, engagement in physical activity and ongoing participation.

Parent and child programs have predominantly targeted and engaged mothers. When programs are open to both parents very few dads sign up.

We encourage mums/partners to engage with the programs home tasks, have discussions with their partner and daughter and are welcome to complete any of the home activities with any of their other children.

How much does a program cost?

The 9 week program costs $130 per family, which works out to be approximately $7 per person per week which we think is amazing value.

At some locations there is local funding which supports reduced fees please check the individual program registration for more information.

I've registered for the program but haven't received any more details, what should I do?

Specific program details including venue meeting points, session times, facilitator name, what to bring, what's provided and everything else will be emailed 2-3 days prior to the start of the program. If you think you might have missed the info please get in touch with us.
